Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!
I love pizza!
I love how your teeth sinks into the cheese,
I love the softness of the crust,
& I love the simplicity of it!
I mean how simple can you get?
No utensils necessary & it makes your tummy full.

the joys of finals
♥ I can wake up when ever I want too
(no class, volunteer, or intern)
♥ I have an excuse to not cook & eat out
♥ I can dress "down" in super comfy clothes
♥ I have an excuse to go crazy with friends during study breaks
♥ I have the entire day dedicated to solely studying
♥ people around me are so intense in their studies.
It motivates me to study :)
♥ people around me are so intense in their studies.
It motivates me to study :)
♥ I can snack & not feel guilty about it
♥ I have the option of having a dirty apartment?
Actually scratch that. I keep it clean nonetheless :)
♥ I go on study dates with people at random places
♥ there's always a reward to look forward to at the end!

the "usuals" of San Diego
Going to the usual touristy spots in San Diego never gets old!
I'm for sure coming back to indulge in these pleasures I was so lucky to experience as an undergraduate :)

Extraordinary Desserts
After four years living in San Diego, I finally experienced the scrumptious & delicious cakes at Extraordinary Desserts in downtown San Diego! Fraisier Triple Berry Torte & Ivoire Royale. Yum :) I'm not a huge sweet tooth fan but I sure do love my white chocolate. The place is a tad bit overpriced, but it's worth it the first time. :)

check out
I'm ready to check out of school. Not that school was hard in terms of its workload (midterms, papers, & finals were annoying but doable), but I'm so glad college is only four years :) San Diego was good to me, but I think I can handle a new chapter in my life. I'm actually looking forward to moving back home, to helping my mom around the house, to completing mini-project ideas I have brewing in my head, to serving more at church, to going on missions to China, and to start applying for graduate schools (as disgusting as that sounds). Researching schools got me excited because I might actually be there someday! :) Oh, how I want to experience life somewhere other than Southern California. Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, Washington...wherever I go, here I come :) & if worst comes to worst when I don't get accepted for Fall 2011, the option of teaching in Korea is still there. Hehe
I finally found out what my blood type is!
I'm not a mystery anymore :)

wish-list
1. West Highland White Terriers ("Westies")
These terriers are so adorable! And best of all, they're a non-shedding dog. Aw, these little darlings melts my heart :)
2. Blue Bear Cellphone Holder - $5.00 at morninggloryus.com
How convenient to have a place to hold my cellphone instead of scrimmaging around my bag when the phone rings :) Koreans think of the clever-ist ideas to make money from the consumers, but I think this is worth the $5.
3. Black High-Top Converses - $30.00 at Kohls
I don't know why. I have no reason but I just want them. I guess I could never get over my love for converse :)
4. Loveable Lobster - $20.00 at Build-a-Bear
How cute is this little lobster! I know Build-a-Bear is super overpriced with their dolls, clothes, and accessories, but this lobster is way too cute :)
5. NASB Updated Edition - Ultrathin Reference Bible
It's time for a new bible! I had mine (actually, it's not even mine because a youth pastor from high school gave me her used one) since forever & it just never felt like my own. Plus, it'll be nice to follow along with the version my church uses on Sundays :)
6. Macbook Pro - $1,199 at the Apple Store
My faithful Toshiba died a few months ago so I've been using my friend's old Macbook Pro. I never thought I would get used to an Apple, but I love it! :)
But what's numero uno on my wish-list? To go on a trip to the east coast & explore the grad schools I want to go to, eat, & being touristy!

grat·i·tude [grat-i-tood]
Gratitude (noun): the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.
Sentence -- I have great gratitude towards my best friend.
If you ask us how we became friends, I honestly don't really remember. She needed a friend so I became her friend. Haha (just kidding). I met her sometime during junior year of high school & we just clicked from the beginning :] From giggling about boys together, to always laughing hysterically with one another, to crying in front of each other, to making dance videos, to taking SAT classes together, to taking webcam pictures, to checking our college acceptance letters together, to having our pig-out-days, to her coming over to my house after school everyday, we became like peas & carrots! peanut butter & jelly! jose & enriques!
Like all friends, we had our ups & downs and still do, but with every relationship comes joys & struggles. Even Spongebob & Patrick had their moments of quarrels. I'm thankful for our friendship, Nina Yoonjung Yi (But stop making fun of my horrible sense of directions, my Eng-rish, & my laughs)! That'll be pretty awesome if we went to the east coast for grad school together :]Friday, April 16, 2010
it's finally happening!
I went to go take my graduation picture today. It's finally happening! I'm going to be a graduating senior in about two months! GO TRITONS :] I don't know whether I'm excited as the exclamation marks show, but it's just so surreal. I'm sure every senior feel this way, but college sure does fly by quickly!
I come from a first generation family, meaning that both my parents weren't able to go to college. My dad was definitely smart enough but had to give up that dream to enter into the work force after marrying early. My mom always reminds me how lucky I am to be included in the 2% of the world population to be attending a college. My grandmother passed away when my mom was only in middle school, therefore she had to take care of the family & give up her college dreams early on. My mom & dad are both so hard working and I know I should be extremely thankful to have been born as their daughter :] It's surreal that the college chapter in my life is coming to an end and it's time for a new chapter! I'm not as anxious as I used to be in the beginning of the school year. Is this what contentment feels like? Like every chapter, it will be filled with trials & challenges, but how you come about dealing with it will reflect where your relationship with the Lord is. I'm reading a book called, "Calm My Anxious Heart" by Linda Dillow, and it's such a good reminder to be in practice being content in our lives, no matter the circumstances. We need to choose to give our anxieties to God, choose to pray specifically, choose to be thankful, and choose to dwell on the positive.

I'm thankful for...
I was encouraged to write what I'm thankful for after reading a friend's blog. There are so many things to be thankful for without me realizing that I should be thankful! To have a thankful heart is to have a heart of contentment, & a contentment is a heart at peace with the Lord < 3
This week I'm thankful for:
♥ The generosity of Christine, her presence, & her meal points to swipe me a breakfast burrito at OVT this morning. Breakfast dates are the best because breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
♥ My small group ducklings. I was incredibly humbled by our sharing time & in awe how they are growing. I am nothing but a mere tool and God is doing the work.
♥ My spontaneous night at Irvine. I love you girls (Mel & Candace)! We are so silly together.
♥ Pretty awesome movies like "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Hehe I laugh at the most random parts.
♥ My random AIM conversations with R82ers. I'm physically far, yet close with you guys. Can't wait to see you all this Friday. PTL for a church family :]

♥ Praise & Prayer Night. What more can I say? Worshipping the Lord with fellow brothers & sisters on campus is something you can always be thankful about. We are free to sing praises & pray without the fear of being persecuted or thrown into jail.
♥ STEP Missions!!! I'm going to China this summer!!!
♥ Jamba Juice...because I'm drinking it right now. There's a buy-one-get-one-free deal going on.
Toodles!

Good Friday
"Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:28
Jesus, thank you for what you have done on the cross.
I am humbled, awed, joyful, & forever thankful!

east coast
These days I've been really wanting to go to the east coast for graduate school. Living away from California was never much of an option for me, but I think going to school for two-three years should be fun :] It'll definitely be a learning & living experience. And plus, I'll get to wear cute winter bundle of clothes!

blessings
Boram's Small Group 2007-2008
Small Group now
Even though small group was "officially" over in 2008, it continued to grow through the years until now. What a blessing. Seriously.
From our first awkward meeting together (only because Boram thought it was awkward), to opening up quickly to one another, to the intense study of FOF, to our sharing times & popcorn-ing each other, to eating a lot together, and being silly together, sophomore year was definitely memorable :]
God, thank you for my relationship with each & every one of these girls!

For this year, I pray that my ducklings & I would grow to love God more, grow to understand His grace, and genuinely love one another. Already a quarter has passed! One more quarter left of small group. Sadness :[ I have to make the most out of my time with these ducklings.

my elevator luck?
As a Psychology major, I had to participate in a lot of experiments.
Most of the psych. experiments were usually held in McGill Hall, a shady looking building in Muir College.
(HERE!)
The experiments were usually held in the basement, which was even shadier. A random fact: I hate staircases.
(THESE!)
It's not the exercise I despise, but I just feel paranoid, trapped, scared, & my imaginations run crazy! Therefore, I always take the elevator whenever I can (quicker). Last year, on my way to do a psych. experiment at McGill, I did the usual detour to the elevator to go down to the basement. After finishing the experiment, I bolted straight to the elevator. I pressed the level 1 button & then nothing. The elevator didn't move. Oh shoot. I pushed on the level 1 button again. Nothing. I pressed the "open" button. Nothing. Oh my Lord! I'm stuck! I was eventually rescued but I was slightly traumatized. Is there a chance I would get stuck in a elevator again? Yup. It happened to me again today. Such horrible luck! As I stepped into the elevator, pressed level 4, and the doors closed, the elevator didn't budge, the door was tightly shut, and it bobbed up & down. Oh my goodness...I was rescued once again but thankfully, it wasn't as traumatizing as my first experience. Maybe God is teaching me a practical lesson through both my experiences - I should take the staircases now :[

Gompers Internship
I'm really really really going to miss the kids.
(due to liability issues, I wasn't allowed to take pictures with the kids. but the TA told me I could take sneaky pictures without the faces clearly shown, so here it is :])
For the past couple of months, I had the opportunity to work in a special education classroom (by chance) while interning with the school nurse at Gompers Preparatory Academy (I feel like this is going to be a part of my research paper due next week, haha). Pretty much my time was split in the nurse's station and in the special ed. classroom. The students in the special ed. classroom ranged from 6th to 9th grade, & were moderately to severely disabled (from autism to ADHD to Down's Syndrome). I honestly had no idea that through this internship, I would develop a heart for students with disabilities. I wanted to jump with joy :] I finally found a passion in what I want to do with my life! I had the goal of becoming nurse Jackie after graduation, but now I would much rather work with special ed. kids in a more intimate setting, such as being a teacher or a speech therapist. Teacher Jackie? Therapist Jackie? I don't know. I'm nervous, yet excited about this whole change. One thing I need to remind myself of: I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow. I really pray & hope that I will be able to glorify God in all my circumstances. The sincerity & purity I saw in these students reminded me of how we, as Christians, should approach God's throne with the same sincerity & pureness like a child. I loved their smiles & greetings whenever I came into the classroom. I'm genuinely going to miss the time I spent with the nurse, the special ed. teacher, the TAs, & especially, the students I got attached too :] Thank you, Gompers!
"Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all." Mark 10:15

Mandy Lynne
I've never been a huge photography fan.
It's always been something that I wish I was good at but never had the chance to develop a passion for it. I mean, I've taken a photography class in high school, but I was so busy meeting the deadlines & being frustrated at all the projects I had to do, that I didn't enjoy the photography aspect itself. So once in awhile, when I come across photographers I really admire, I get excited :] Browsing through their work reveals to me the passion that they have. One photographer that caught my eye: Mandy Lynne. I love the subject matter she chooses to capture in her photos, the color sequences she uses, and the innocent & childlikeness feel to it.
cute, huh? :]

nurse jackie?
I finally got to stick thermometers in kid's mouths yesterday. I wouldn't say it's the most exciting thing, but it's a start :]
Random, but I'm getting more interested in working with special ed kids. My supervisor advised me to volunteer in a special ed classroom for a couple of hours during the days I come. I'm kind of excited :]

to-do list
I love being organized.
& having a to-do list staring at me from my laptop is just what I need to stay on top of things.
Today's to-do list:
Email my small group girls
Prepare FOF lessons
Cut my bangs
Cut my bangs
Three weeks worth of reading for VIS 127 [oh poop]
Start on my paper for VIS 127 [or at least look over the prompt]
Philosophy homework
1 week worth of Korean homework
Clean my room
Wash my pillow cases & bedsheet
Yes, I'm a organizational freak! :] Because I'm staying in San Diego for the weekend (which I haven't done since last year. wow), I feel so much more productive & un-lazy. I'm here at Geisel on a Saturday afternoon. How much more productive can you get? hehe :] Dang, if I had super powers, I would use one of them to locate San Diego thirty minutes away from home. Then I would have a productive weekend, & still manage to go back home for church. How awesome would that be...
Okay, back to tackling some more items off the to-do list!
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's might hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

Update: Route 28 Advance :]
Our theme this year was on Luke 15. I loved how my pastor gave the vantage points of the younger son, the older son, and the father [from the Parable of the Prodigal Son]. It was challenging to hear & a good reflection to reveal my own attitude towards God. I also loved my discussion group, the conversations I had, & spending time away from everything. Although I got sick on the second day, it was worth enduring :]

stupid movies?
I don't know why but I'm coming to appreciate the dumbwitted, humorous movies. The storyline is ridiculous but I still get a good laugh from watching those random-funny-what the heck movies. No drama but just laughing & cringing (maybe my mindset is turning into a guy taha) :]
Two movies I watched this week:
The Hangover -
hahahaha
Allen is just plain ridiculous.
Zombieland -
Okay, the zombies looked super duper freaky, but
the storyline & the acting was so funny.
Other movie recommendations?

Happy 2010
Happy New Years, everyone! It's finally the year two-thousand and ten. How crazy :] Time for new year resolutions, my graduation, & the World Cup. Honestly, this past year was such a blur. Many joys, many struggles, many transitions, many tears that were shed...But in the end, God was the rock in every situation like always [thanks God] :]
While I was organizing my inbox yesterday, I came across this particular email entry I wrote to a friend back in 2006.
"i missed church again today. somethings not motivating me. i have no motivation. God is suppose to be my motivation but i dunno. i still didn't experience God yet? so im so confused and lost and yeah."
Wow, what a reminder on how much God has revealed to me in the past four years. It's so exciting & humbling to know that God had a plan waiting for me. He was waiting so patiently, even through my doubts & confusions, for me to open up my heart to Him. Even now, I'm still lacking in so many areas but I know it's a continuous process that I should keep pursuing :]
