Happy Birthday, Living Hope!

Happy Sixteenth Birthday to Living Hope Community Church!
I've only been with this church for less than two years,
but it's been an awesome journey :)

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25

invincible?

I always bragged to myself on how my immune system usually never fails me...but sadly, it failed me a little too early this season. I woke up with a sore throat on Monday, then it quickly accumulated into a runny nose, cough, headache, body ache, & fever. I don't know how I did it, but even with a hospital orientation, interview, quiz, test, & midterm, all within a span of three days, I managed to stay alive and fight off my cold. Thank you God & orange juice :) For the past week, my roommates witnessed my pitiful state as I either laid under my blanket reading my lecture notes, or with two tissues stuck in my nose while studying in the living room. No midterms & speeches until next week though! Yay.

I'm finally going to experience being a "Nurse Jackie"! Okay, maybe not a official nurse-nurse, but luckily I got a position in the ER at Scripps Hospital :) I'm super excited. The interviewer told me that it was going to be intense because I'll be seeing a lot of trauma patients who will be needing immediate care. I hope I'll be useful to the doctors, nurses, & patients :)

Danny, Diane, & Stella came down to San Diego yesterday. It was good seeing them in a new environment outside of church! Well, I already saw Danny last week when he came down for CCM, but it feels nice seeing Living Hopers at San Diego. I feel so far from everyone during the week. Haha, seriously I really wish I had the super power to bring San Diego closer to home. But then again, maybe that's what makes it more special when we see each other after a long week. Anyways, I had my first experience at Crab Hut when we all had dinner together (including Paul & Grace) yesterday. Oh man, it was so good :) Shrimp & Crab. YUM! Seafood never fails me. My fingers reeker of garlic, butter, & Old Bay (it still reeks right now), but it was all worth it. Thank you Danny for the food! And thank you for your sermon on "Patience."

Me & Kristina's afternoon photo shoot. I don't know if she'll ever read this but seriously, I have a pretty awesome "roomie in the other room" :) Surprisingly, this girl has so much aegyo (random-acts-of-cuteness) that she only reveals at home. Sometimes I get grossed out (in a good way I guess). Haha, at least I get a good laugh out of it. I'm thankful for her faithfulness to God (you're going to be awesome community group leader!), her constant smile, and her constant encouragement. Someday I'll prove to you, Brian, & Eric that I could do go into the ocean up to my legs!

To sum up my week, I had a pretty crazy ending. So I went to get my TB test read today & the nurse informed me that I tested positive for TB. What the heck?! I was fine when I took the test a year and a half ago. That means I got exposed to someone with TB. Dang you whoever you are. The nurse then directed me to take my X-Ray so off I went being half-scared, half-amused. It was my first time taking an X-Ray! Oh gosh, I had a pretty bad cough for over a month not too long ago but I was stupid enough not to check that out. Hopefully my results will come out good!

fall

San Diego weather is so deceiving. The forecast informed that it was going to rain yesterday and today & I got super excited but all I got was the sun. I'm not complaining, sun is a necessary part of life & vitamin D, but when it's fall, the season should be chilly, gloomy, with leaves on the ground. Almost four years of living in San Diego and I still can't predict the weather. According to weather.com, it's going to be in the mid 70's in San Diego and mid 80's in Diamond Bar. Sigh, another warm weekend back at home. Hurry up and come, fall & winter!

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight."
James 4:14 "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."

"Trust in God." In all honesty, that phrase sounded so cliche whenever I heard it. It's just as hard for me right now to understand and apply it, but I know that I'm not in control of my life. God is my provider and nothing else. No matter how much I want to plan out the nitty-gritty details of my future, that's my own selfishness speaking. It's only second week and already my heart is filled with the thoughts of transitioning after graduating. I know what I want to be - but getting to where I want to be will be perplexing process. I hate thinking about my "what-if's"...What if I knew that I wanted to be a nurse right after graduating high school? Then I would've applied to a school with a undergraduate nursing program. Then I wouldn't be worrying right now about applying for nursing schools. What if I was a biology major. Then I wouldn't have had to take extra prerequisite courses after graduating UCSD and just apply for Fall 2010. Yea, I really shouldn't think about my "what-ifs." I'm going to stop - it's not healthy to dwell on it. There's no point in regretting because ultimately, no matter how much my mom says I wasted my time at San Diego and how I should have transfered to another school with a nursing program, I felt convicted to stay - part because of the laziness of not wanting to deal with the whole transferring process but also because of the memories I built. I know I have to deal with the consequences of my future being unclear after leaving San Diego, but I have God to lean on and lift up my life for the glory of His Kingdom.

Week 1 of fall quarter: Complete!

Started of the quarter with awesome sermons from CCM & Friday night Bible study with Route 28. God's going to do amazing things this year. I feel it! It's slowly hitting me that I'll be graduating college in less than a year. I need to really appreciate my time here in San Diego & La Jolla :) It's so beautiful here & there's so many things I have yet to do! Time to get started on that bucket list.
